Wine & Books Club
At the Wine & Books Hotels wine and books club, we invite readers from around the world to explore Lusophone literature each month, translated into English, alongside an exclusive selection of the finest Portuguese wines.
Here, you will find a living curation platform, where literature and wine come together through regular recommendations, in a sensory and cultural experience to be enjoyed slowly, between pages and glasses, silence and discovery.
Our wine selections
We select Portuguese wines that reflect the diversity and authenticity of our wine regions. From renowned producers to singular discoveries, each choice is intended to be enjoyed slowly, valuing character, origin and the experience at the table.
Chocapalha Vinha Mãe 2017
The result of the meeting of three grape varieties – Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Alicante Bouschet – aged for 36 months in French oak. It presents an intense violet colour, aromas of black fruit, floral notes and spices, in a robust, elegant profile with excellent ageing potential.
Quinta de Arcossó Rosé
Produced in Trás-os-Montes from the Bastardo grape variety, it challenges preconceptions associated with rosé wines. With an elegant and balanced profile, it reveals aromas of red fruit, violet notes and a subtle touch of pepper, in a smooth and enveloping body that surprises with its authenticity.
Lacrau Field Blend
Produced in the Douro, this wine is born from a traditional field blend, bringing together emblematic grape varieties from the region: Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Touriga Nacional. Rooted in a historic practice of blending grape varieties in the vineyard, it reveals authenticity, balance and depth, showing that what seems simple conceals character and complexity.
Espumante Filipa Pato 3B Rosé
Produced in Bairrada from the Bical grape variety and traditional red grapes from the region, this sparkling wine reveals balance and identity. Rosé in colour, it presents aromas of brioche and cherry, with bakery notes. On the palate, it is fresh, with an elegant mousse, making it ideal as an aperitif or to accompany starters and light meals.
Eruptio
A white wine from Pico Island, produced from the Arinto dos Açores (Sercial) grape variety, it expresses its volcanic and maritime terroir in an exemplary way. With marked acidity, balanced by ageing in wood on fine lees, it reveals saline notes, dried seaweed and citrus. Fresh and precise, it is ideal as an aperitif or to accompany starters and delicate grilled fish.
Dona Maria Petit Verdot
Produced from the Petit Verdot grape variety of French origin, this wine fully expresses its character in the warm climate of the Alentejo. Deep in colour, it reveals aromas of blueberry and blackberry, wrapped in spicy and woody notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with fresh acidity and firm tannins, resulting in a powerful, complex profile ideal for lovers of intense wines.
Our literary selections
We bring together works of Lusophone literature that invite attentive reading and reflection. Across different genres and voices, each book is chosen for its literary quality and its ability to create connections, inspire conversations and awaken new perspectives.
Kokoschka’s Doll
Afonso Cruz
A novel written with poetic prose, where seemingly disconnected stories intertwine over time. Between memories of war, loss and love, Afonso Cruz builds a sensitive and profound narrative about freedom, meaning and the invisible marks we leave in the lives of others. A book that draws the reader in and remains in the memory.
The Reverse Side of Skin
Jeferson Tenório
An intense and deeply contemporary novel that follows a young Black man trying to understand the life and death of his father. With an intimate narrative, written in the second person, the book confronts the reader with questions of race, identity and inequality, challenging us to face the injustices still present in society.
Eliete
Dulce Maria Cardoso
An intimate portrait of the everyday life and concerns of a 40-year-old Portuguese woman. With lyrical and precise writing, Dulce Maria Cardoso creates a deeply human narrative about identity, loneliness and the expectations of contemporary life, revealing beauty in small routines and in the quietest emotions.
The Joyful Song of the Partridge
Paulina Chiziane
A powerful novel that follows several generations of women in Mozambique, exploring identity, power and female resistance. With poetic writing and a non-linear narrative, Paulina Chiziane paints a profound portrait of a society in transformation and of the forces shaping individual and collective stories.
Blindness
José Saramago
An intense allegory about the fragility of society and the human condition. In a scenario dominated by an epidemic of white blindness, José Saramago exposes the collapse of social structures and confronts the reader with questions of ethics, power and humanity, in a disturbing and deeply relevant narrative.
Even White People Know How to Dance
Kalaf Epalanga
A vibrant narrative about identity, migration and belonging, following the journey of an Angolan musician in Europe. Between memories, music and cultural reflection, Kalaf Epalanga blends fiction and autobiography to question stereotypes and celebrate the transformative power of art.

Pairing Box
The pairing boxes are born from the essence of the Wine & Books Club: the connection between literature and wine, designed to be enjoyed with time and intention. Each box brings together a book, selected by the literary curator, and the wine that accompanies it, selected by the wine curator, creating a sensory experience to be enjoyed at home, at your own pace.
This concept extends the spirit of the club, which takes place monthly in an online format, and is also inspired by the live events already organised (news coming soon), where the reading of excerpts meets wine in unique pairing experiences.
Soon, the pairing boxes will be available for purchase at Wine & Books hotels and online.
